Been on report duty for the boring stages of Tirreno so far and then today I was on Paris-Nice lol. Caught the final few kms of Tirreno and it looked ridic. PN up the Turini was fun too. Colombian domination.

in the end, paris nice kinda sucked no? much respect to bernal though. the echelons, the tt...very impressive. i expected him to win on turini and get 2nd or 3rd to kwiato...but clearly the climb was too much.

tirreno looks like the much more interesting race.

rode a little yesterday but the 15+ mph wind + gusts just sucked and bailed after an hour.

hello bike thread,

what’s the best ~$500 option for general fitness, looping around the park, maybe training for triathlon later?

friend suggested used specialized allez

or is this not enough budget

If you don't need to worry about hills you can get a really good used single speed for that much.

If you want an actual Road Bike, it'll be a little more tough, just check Craigslist everyday. But instead of worrying about the bike company (trek, specialized, ECT), search for decent componentry like ultegra, force, mavic, fizik because people selling decent bikes will always list out that stuff as selling points.

Mine was an Allez for like $350. Can't remember the groupset but it was some low end Shimano.

i bought a late 80s/early 90s allez in 2005 or 6 for like 200. it was my only bike for like 8 years and i beat the hell out of it. i don't really ride it anymore but i can't bring myself to get rid of it. pretty much the only good memories i have of my 20s involve being on that bike.

It was a pretty good race; I haven't cheered at a race like I did yesterday in a looong time. but as Lucky said, it was just another stage race with another perfectly robotic Sky slaughter.

It's just nice to have somebody other than Froome at the helm when it happened but its just depressing as hell that nobody seems to know how to crack this nut.

todays tirreno stage was one of the best stages ive ever seen, brutally hard with incredible racing

surprised that dumoulin isnt able to do more. roglic is looking like the #1 contender for the giro.

yates brothers have continued to impress.

Possibly, but that's not really any proof of it.

2% gradient, Richeze is the best leadout in the world, and the top sprinters (Sagan/Viviani) started too far back and then were held up trying to manouevre around slower finishers GVA/Venturini/Cimolai/decelerating Richeze.

I love when you see ala after stages and even big wins still playing around on his bike like a kid. he's pure joy as a cyclist.

im mixed on alaphilippe...similar to my love/hate for sagan. never really seems to have adversity...or a rough patch.

cycling needs personalities like this...just have a hard time celebrating a cyclist who is so good at everything.

also...was viviani pissed or happy for him? i read that alaphippe said viviani encouraged him to sprint earlier in the race but i doubt he expected him to win.

Thought Viviani was angry but I'd have to watch again. Guess he was angry at someone blocking him maybe, given the post-stage reports on their tactics

i just remember that viviani is a bit of a biatch when he could win and his team fails him...like that rain soaked stage at the giro last year when sam bennet won.

I made a Velogames CLASSICS group for Hipinion and am going to give my best shot at putting in a team for each of the 10 races.

There are no transfer limits this year, so you just pick a new team for each with only the 100pt limit.

i don't know how or why this happened, but i just got a set of GP4000s off amazon for sixty bucks.

i've always wanted to try them, but they're so expensive, i've never been able to justify it. but it was 84 for a bundle, with a 5% e-coupon, which is about what i spend on mid-range race tyres at the LBS. so i went for it. i hit checkout and there was a mysterious 20 dollar gift card attached so i clicked place order asap and they shipped at 60.

i don't know if it was something they credited me or whatever, but it might be worth trying if anybody needs a new set for the season.

yeah, now that the 5000s are out, theyre pretty much discounting the 4000s by 50%. i only ride the 4000s so i bought a pair for my new festka.

only need one more goddamn part before i send it off to the shop to build it up. been mostly a frustrating process. in the end, festka frame, all enve components, enve 4.5 wheels, ultegra r8000 mechanical groupset...

basically the whole set up cost 1/3 the price of retail...but thats still more than i wanted to pay.

Can you guys install gp4000s without tools?

I bought a pair online, could never install them, then had a buddy do it, flatted out like a week later and was stranded

Rolling on badass tires is a good investment but Christ I hate installing them.
