I like this new album but it feels a bit like Dinosaur Jr as constructed by a Google algorithm but it's a good algorithm maybe it's a side effect of it being written/recorded simultaneously.. lots of simple catchy stuff but the songs just don't tug my heart as much as their other post-refo recs do at their strongest
My listening experience in balanced mode reveals the great depth of EARTH

ha, nyctapers deliver, once again! that's the gig I was at, fantastic, never had been to that venue before. was totally worth missing the Boris show for. and we met Mascis outside, seemed like the kindest, coolest, most relaxed guy possible. yes, I love him with all my heaaaaart. I looked at him and had to shut up the voice in my head saying "ask to hug him, hug him come on look at him, that's gotta be the best hug ever, hug him hug him." (thankfully I did not attempt to hug him.)
When bands take a break for a significant amount of time there’s going to be some people who want you to sound the same as you always did and others who will be disappointed when you don’t do anything different. Is there anything that you achieve with the newer albums than you hadn’t done before?
Lou Barlow 16 hrs · i played an acoustic show at a lovely park in downtown Northampton MA last week.. it was odd, the sound engineer, switched the microphone out during my performance and there was continuous moan of feedback emanating from the PA.. after i finished people barely looked at me and even my family couldn't muster the requisite 'good job'...literally dead eyed stares from everyone.. so i guess i pretty much sucked, i'd like to think it was 'technical difficulties' but i dunno.... i decided to up the ante and really bring it home with this ska version (courtesy of the band i was opening for: Beige) of a song of mine that people seem to like: Think.. this version should do away with that too.. I am, of course, perversely proud of humiliating myself and destroying the song in public and it was undeniably cathartic after my solo suck-a-thon...
saw them at a brewery over the summer they were rad it was js sons bday and he was onstage stoked as hell got to shake js hand really wanted to blaze with him
Too bad the 90s Dino reissues that just came out are all 40 dollars for some reason, it’d be nice to pick up one or two. I get doing the double CD bonus track/demos thing, but don’t see the point with LPs.
I like how all the Jagjaguar stuff is like 13 dollars though, that’s how it should be!

They're imports, to my knowledge those records had already been reissued in Europe so the point is to add a reason to get them. A friend of mine who's a huge Dino Jr. fan was psyched about the bonus stuff.
