some people on the sinemia subreddit are talking about getting chargebacks from their credit card company, usually involving annual subscriptions sinemia was fighting them previously, but it looks like people are having success with them now

I hate now not having something that gets me into the Laemmle indie theater. Actually contemplating reupping with MP. Anyone still using that? Can you tell me which theaters have showings today in the 91107 area? I'd still do MP even for 2-3 films a month during night showings but won't bother if there's zero showings like before

for the brief moment when movie pass was (a) functional and (b) a landmark partner this was truly blissful hopefully landmark comes out with their own pass now but i'm not holding my breath

im erroring out on the payment page edit: nm i got it to work. weird thing is its 50 cents extra if you want to reserve a seat with the app, only free if you wait in line. i guess that makes it more like moviepass but i was kinda surprised after using stubs a list. but i would book and cancel all the time with that so i guess i get it edit 2: premium upgrade is $4 around here. 13.50 for 4dx in nyc (i got the all access tier)

Lowe dreaded the company’s power users, those high-volume MoviePass customers who were taking advantage of the low monthly price, constantly going to the movies, and effectively cleaning the company out. According to the Motion Picture Association of America, the average moviegoer goes to the movies five times a year. The power users would go to the movies every day. “Before Mitch came on it was, ‘How do we slow down those users?’” one former employee said. “With Mitch it was just, ‘F—- those guys.’”

people ruined a good thing, first with mp then sinemia. I was happy seeing just 3-5 movies a month at the indie theater. amc methods and functionality are great but the film selection is so limited. I'd be willing to pay $30 for a 5 a month any theater/showing plan.

some amc theaters have a more expanded independent film selection with their "AMC Artisan Films" line lol
obv not as good as going to IFC or something but they generally have some pretty good stuff. maybe this is only in big cities or nyc tho
