This channel is fun, I modified the corn chowder recipe they posted (theirs had way too much cream so I used coconut milk) and it was delicious. Probably going to watch Claire's skittles video tonight.

Claire's doing Hot Pockets!

Also when did Sohla leave Serious Eats and join the BA team? She's a great addition.

When Claire talked about how she was “excited” to try a Hot Pocket for the first time, I think I fell back in love with her.

she quit serious eats a year ago and wrote on twitter how she hoped one day she wouldn't have to choose between facing discrimination and her job. I think she joined BA this summer. she's the best.

Yeah same, although this year I've been pretty out of touch with publications. Theres a food book bookstore down the street from my apt that I really love and they have authors promoting their books and throwing dinners there regularly and they hosted carla lalli a few months back as she was releasing her book, but shes my favorite and I felt too anxious so I didnt go. I did see claire and some other people from the channel at a bake sale, but they were sold out at their booth and thus were just chillin being micro celebs so I also chickened out and didnt say anything, even though they were clearly not busy at all. Same scenario when david leibowitz was in town, I scuttled out as soon as he was done and I've read him for years now.

I did pay and attend my first fundraiser ever this year and that was all food publishing people and authors, which is when I realized I dont know what 75% of them look like anyway, inuclidng allison Roman who was on the benefit committee for that one and was definitely there. I was just hoping to find ruth reichl since I have met her before, but she didnt even show.
Nice day if it doesn't rain.

Agree Priya Krishna's book is great – just like really charming and sweet in addition to a good mix of recipes and technique stuff. I think it's <$20 too.
I don't really like her content-y videos, but Molly Baz's recent recipes have all been interesting at least. Her potatoes with walnut and raisins was cool! Feel like the magazine has gotten a little tired but I wish em the best.
