Anyone listen to today's How Did This Get Played about Custer's Revenge?
I reduced the temples of Elam to naught; their gods and goddesses I scattered to the winds. The tombs of their ancient and recent kings I devastated, I exposed to the sun, and I carried away their bones toward the land of Ashur.

Yeah that was not what I was expecting but actually enjoyed it and how they handled the confrontation.
It was pretty shitty to invite a native for that game on Thanksgiving week but I understand Heather’s response and also you could tell they felt super shitty. Good on the guest as well for being so upfront about the issue

Sad to think over the years how many times in podcasting or elsewhere I’ve probably been listening to a guest who was feeling a similar way. Inspiring that Joey Clift did that.

I haven't listened, but I saw joey's tweet / thread about it. As much as its frustrating how poorly people educated folks are about Indigenous issues, it sounds like joey handled it very well, and the hosts didn't dig in their heels or get defensive. And this isn't to specifically criticize wiger but just that education in general about Indigenous history & culture is abysmal

Easily could have been Glaser on You Made It Weird level awkward but they managed to steer out of the skid best they could and it was extremely compelling stuff. Everyone managed to come out seeming okay, in spite of how it came about, I thought.

Yeah I’ve been listening to that podcast weekly and had no idea that was coming. As much as it sucks the situation was created in the first place, it was refreshing to hear it actually turn into a productive conversation. Good move of them to give Joey final edit and let him write the episode description.

i found it to be pretty educational bc irl my proportion of "this is what my thought process was/here is why i did that" is probably out of balance with listening and displaying remorse in situations

The fact that the party bus' lights were on the whole time makes the story even better.

His episode on “Yo is this racist” a few months back is really good. His activism for Native representation is truly inspiring. He goes into a little more detail about casting issues, barriers, and the struggle for a lot of natives to accept tokenizing jobs simply because they need the fucking money. He’s doing great stuff
